Charlie Sheen shows off his Detroit Tigers jersey during his show at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.Charlie Sheen's torpedo of truth is turning into a real bomb.
With the first performance on his national tour ending in disaster, fans have been racing to unload tickets for the rest of Sheen's scheduled shows.
On-line ticket brokers say they've been flooded with people trying to dump their tickets since the self-destructing star's incoherent Saturday show ended in a chorus of boos.
"More tickets have gone up on the site and demand has sunk," said StubHub.com spokeswoman Joellen Ferrer.
She said that before Saturday's debacle in Detroit, people had been asking for an average of $185 per ticket for the two New York shows, but that dipped to $130 within hours.
And low-end prices had slipped from around $65 to $40.
"I would expect that prices would dip even further if the shows continue like this," she said.
Reports of furious fans storming out and demanding their money back after the first show had plenty of New Yorkers itching to get rid of their tickets to Sheen's upcoming Big Apple gigs.
"I am hoping [Sheen] will buy them back. Think there is a chance?" said Jeff Rubin, who has tickets to Sheen's Friday performance at Radio City Music Hall.
A businessman from Syracuse, Rubin said he considered putting his tickets up for sale, but figures he'll get stuck with them.
"We'll either go to see the train wreck or hang on to the tickets as a unique souvenir," he said.
Ferrer noted that large numbers of tickets for Saturday's sold-out show had sold on StubHub for well below the face value of $50 to $80.
"We sold one ticket for $9," she said. "On the flip-side, for fans who really want to see Charlie Sheen, this is a good thing."
That's exactly what Queens high school student Chris Chavez is counting on."Maybe me and some of my friends can get a good deal," the 17-year-old said. "I really want to hear what he's saying to drive people out of their seats, but I wouldn't pay too much for that."
"It has become more about witnessing how much of a train wreck he has become and how far has he fallen," he said.
