Oritse Williams wanted to fly planes for a living

JLS hunk Oritse Williams wasn't always such a hit with the ladies.

'I was a complete nerd at school,' he insists.

'I dreamt of becoming a pilot or astronaut - not a pop star. I wore glasses, had a little afro, and wasn't popular with the girls.'

Oritise, 24, really got into music at the age of 13 after his mum was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

'After mum was diagnosed, music became an emotional release, it helped me cope,' he tells The Sunday Times Magazine.

'I joined choirs and learnt to play the trumpet. I took part in singing battles and became known as Music Boy

'Mum was always supportive. She taught me to believe in myself.'
